Ecofashion new talents

Dresses from flowers, shoes from fruit, sunglasses from prickly pears. Circle - Riuso Riciclo Rigenero is back at Maker Faire Rome introducing the new talents of sustainable fashion Made in Italy. The Eleonora Riccio, Krocette, Ferilli Eyewear, and ID.EIGHT collections will bring fashion sustainability and innovation to the Gazometro space on Via del Commercio 9.

Fashion pieces from innovative materials and processes that care about social responsibility and the environment

With a passion for botany, Eleonora Riccio has done so much research on color that, after several experiences with brands such as Gianfranco Ferrè and Salvatore Ferragamo, and inspired by the Kew Gardens in London, where she lived for two years, she decided to start her own brand, which combines ethics and ecology with natural dyes. Her collections are made from GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified fabrics, with pigments extracted from flowers and plants and handmade eco printing. Everything is sewn strictly by craftsmen in Italy. The project stems from the idea of clothing the human body with extremely refined garments, expressing poetry and a spiritual ideal of Fashion for women who love beauty and feel they are precious creatures of the Universe, Space, and Nature, which we should respect and take care of.

Ferilli Eyewear brand’s founder Cristiano Ferilli spends years on the right “formula” for his fashion glasses. His ambitious projects started with the intuition of using Apulian prickly pear plants as a raw material. Ferilli Eyewear’s first collection, Sikalindi, featured a limited edition of handcrafted frames in olive wood, birch wood, and prickly pear fiber. No one had ever made glasses from prickly pear blades, still a brand exclusive. The Salento theme is a strong point of all Ferilli Eyewear collections, and the basic concept of Aeras (Griko for air), the 2020 collection of extremely lightweight frames, and the new KliMa collection, released in May 2022, featuring a mix of new materials, including acetate.

ID.EIGHT is a Made in Italy brand of sustainable sneakers that are unisex, cruelty-free, and made with materials from food industry waste, such as apple peels, grape stalks and peels, and pineapple leaves. South Korean stylist Dong Seon Lee and Italian product manager Giuliana Borzillo started the brand in 2019 to bring positive change in an industry dealing with environmental issues. The startup addressed the waste of resources by combining circular innovation technology with traditional manufacturing, for a genderless design that recalls the colors and aesthetics of the 90s.

Krocette originated from the intuition to reuse fruit waste through natural processes to obtain an innovative material that would be economically and environmentally sustainable. The result is the first vegetable alternative leather, a material with the same precious texture as leather, but completely biodegradable and cruelty-free. 100% Made in Italy, Krocette’s creations blend product aesthetics with production ethics for authentic style without compromise.
